Videos and Scripts

Client: University of Minnesota-Duluth, Music Department

Challenge: UMD Music Department requested a series of promotional videos to increase their recruitment numbers.

Solution: I wanted to showcase the beauty of Weber Hall, Duluth, MN, and the joys of studying music. For the first video, I wrote the script, storyboarded with videographer Dan Fitzpatrick (UMD wonder), worked with the students, and used my background to choose music that sets the tone. This was such a fun project!

Client: UMD Music Department

Challenge: For videos 2-4, I wanted the students to tell their stories. How did they get to UMD? Why did they decide to study music there?

Solution: I chose to do a series of interviews to let them tell their stories and reveal how studying at UMD has helped them to grow as musicians and people.

I wrote several questions that I hoped would bring out their stories, then UMD Videographer Dan Fitzpatrick and I edited hours of footage down to 2.5 minutes per video. We scoured for the best soundbites, most helpful information, and the moments that grab the audiences’ attention (and hearts).

Client: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Challenge: Like everyone, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church had an interesting year in 2020. They wanted a video script that relayed the struggles, offered hope for next year, and let everyone know we were in this pandemic together.

Solution: I started by acknowledging the lofty January plans, tracked the onset of COVID with the church’s moving to an online presence, and ended with the many ways the church chose to find joy and hope in an eventful year.
